Harvest Festival is here again and the 2023 festival is gearing up to be bigger and better than ever!
Harvest Festival is not only the main fundraising opportunity for Southern Harvest, but also a fantastic way for us to bring the community together. We love creating connections between producers and consumers, and the events of harvest festival are a great way to get to know the people who grow the food you eat!
We’re kicking things off with our Festival Launch Dinner which will feature a beautiful three course Italian dinner thanks to Agostinis at Lark Hill Winery. Lark Hill will be serving matching wines, and guests will also be treated to drinks on arrival from Holdfast Distillery.
As part of this event we will also hear from Churchill Fellow, local farmer and Southern Harvest Member Fiona Buining who will be sharing with us her vision for food and farming in this region. This promises to be a very special evening to get your tickets now!
Saturday is market day and the Festival Market will be a big one this year! We are taking over the streets of Bungendore with HEAPS of stallholders! There will be fresh fruit and veg available from some of your favourite farms like From The Paddock, Hazelwood, Greenhill Farm, Prana Produce and Pialligo Harvest, as well as garlic tasting from Garlic Kingdom (vampires beware!)
Crafts and fibres will also be well represented whether you’re looking for a new project, or a gift! Merino wool from Millpost, wooden crafts by Cam’s Woodturning, members of the Bungendore Artisans and Indigenous art from three generations of Aboriginal artists P and J Designs.
Paccawooly will be also be there with alpaca wool and knitted creations as well as some gorgeous alpacas to meet!
Barrio Coffee Collective will be selling cold brew and fermented sauces, Chameleon Ice creamery will have tasty ice cream and Octoball Canberra will be selling Japanese street food!
There will also be a huge range of activities like horse drawn carriage rides, face painting and live music.
On Sunday we will once again be hosting the much-loved Long Lunch but this year there’s a twist: everyone will be helping to cook!! Kick things off with a passata making workshop before enjoying the fruits of your labour for lunch. The passata workshop and long lunch will be led by Southern Harvest allstar Sam from Kitch Gardn Witchn at the beautiful Silver Wattle Function Centre.
There will also be several farm tours operating on Sunday, from Millpost Merino in the morning, and a Wamboin area farm tour in the afternoon featuring Jerrabatt Gully Farm and Home Soil Farm.
There are more activities and events being added all the time so stay up to date on the Harvest Festival page.
We hope to see you for an amazing weekend of farming, food, and FUN!
