Description

Southern Harvest is super delighted to be able to offer you the opportunity to Visit Two Wonderful local Farms in One Afternoon!!

Homesoil – Have you ever heard of an oyster plant (it actually tastes like oysters!!)? I hadn’t until I visited Homesoil. Rachael and Damian grow interesting, beautiful and super tasty veggies. Their garden is beyond organic and is built on regenerative linked systems which divert waste, builds soil and promotes diversity both above and below ground. They grow all sorts of lovely things and save lots of seed. Homesoil is an amazing example of small scale production, for supplemental income, growing slowly and organically towards full-time farming.

Jerrabatt Gully – Geoff and Colleen have been farming at Jerrrabatt Gully now for more nearly 30 years, supplying year round vegetables and some fruit to the community. They currently have three greenhouses and outdoor cultivation, as well as extensive rainwater collection systems. The farm boast established perennial as well as annual plantings, and they make compost and seed raising mix, save seed and grow all their own seedlings. Geoff is also a meticulous local weather tracker, with extensive records of patterns over the past 30 years.
