Southern Harvest Association is a Farmer and Producer led organisation that works to foster the sustainable growth and availability of local produce within the ACT and SE NSW region.

The objectives of the Association are:
• to support healthy relationships between growers, producers, consumers and community;
• to develop partnerships with like-minded organisations, local government and community groups to help facilitate the uptake of local produce;

Produce Box Assistant
Southern Harvest Multi-Farm Produce Box Scheme
– Local, Seasonal, Sustainable produce
Our produce box scheme follows the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model, and aims to, as directly as possible, connect Farmers and Eaters. Subscribers are asked to commit to the thirteen week season and purchase in advance, a share of the Farmers’ produce. They then receive fruit, vegetables and nuts as they are harvested, often the day they are harvested, each week for the season. Consumers commit to supporting farmers through the season and share the ups and downs of food production.

The Position: Southern Harvest is looking for a Produce Packing and Distribution Assistant on a part time basis, 11 hours per week, who supports the objectives of the Association. This person will predominantly assist the Produce Box Manager in weighing and packing produce and transporting produce between key market and distributions locations.

Pay will be calculated in accordance with or higher than the relevant award. Entitlements include superannuation pay, penalty rates where applicable and leave allowances.

Hours will be Tuesday afternoon – 4 hours, Thursday afternoon – 4 hours and Sunday morning – 3 hours.

The contract will be for six months with the potential of extension.

Responsibilities/Duties:Working with a team of staff and volunteers to • Weigh and pack produce ready for distribution; • Transporting produce from markets and producers to our storage facility, and from the facility to regional hubs.

Selection Criteria:
Essential
• Hold a current Australian full/unrestricted driver’s license
• Able to work independently and as a member of a team
• Good communication skills
• Willing and able to conduct strenuous duties including lifting and moving equipment and produce
• Supports and respects the objectives of SHA and is passionate about local produce
Desirable
• Own a large vehicle, eg: van, covered ute or station wagon, for transportation of produce
• Holds a current NSW/ACT Food Safety Supervisor Certificate

The Location:
Southern Harvest produce box operations are based in Fyshwick ACT,  with hubs for produce distribution  within ACT and surrounding NSW. Each hub has its own unique character and community.
Administration Assistant
The Position:
We’re looking for an Administrative Assistant on a part time basis, 3 hours per week, who supports the objectives of the Association. This role is responsible for administrative and financial/accounts tasks for SHA including using Xero to raise invoices and input financial information, answering emails and other administrative tasks as required.  

Pay will be calculated in accordance with or higher than the relevant award. Entitlements include superannuation pay and leave allowances.

Hours are flexible and work can be done from home.

The contract is for three months with the  potential of extension.

Responsibilities/Duties:
• Answering and/or redirecting email enquiries
• Inputting bills and invoices into Xero, and reconciling payments of same.
• Other ad hoc administrative tasks as required Selection Criteria:Essential
• Experience using Google platforms for email, drive, groups, word processing, and spreadsheets.
• Sound financial skills with proficiency in Xero
• Ability to work independently
• Good written communication skills
• Supports the objectives of Southern Harvest Association
• Willing and able to learn new technologies.
