Southern Harvest Association (SHA) and Banjo’s Paddock have joined forces to grow and strengthen our local food system with more opportunities for the community to get involved.
Banjo’s Paddock is joining the SHA produce box scheme as an additional distributor from the Southside Farmers Markets in Phillip. Their existing CSA subscribers will now be given the opportunity to join the SHA family and enjoy a greater diversity of fresh, seasonal produce from a regional network of farmers offered by SHA member farmers. This is great news for the Banjo’s Paddock crew who are such an important part of our regional food community. This collaboration will enable Banjo’s Paddock to maintain a connection with their customers, ensure their farm remains viable and concentrate on getting on with what they do best, growing veggies!
Banjo’s Paddock is a family run local farm that started in Binalong NSW, near Yass, in 2016. Banjo’s uses organic principles such as crop rotation, green manure, encouraging beneficial insects and earth friendly products to keep the bugs at bay (such as garlic and chilli oil spray) and are working towards organic certification.
Southern Harvest is a not-for-profit association, led by volunteers, focused on growing local and regional food communities in the ACT and South East NSW through education, market opportunities, networking and advocacy. SHA is committed to facilitating links between farmers and eaters by aggregating local and regional produce, to provide greater variety to consumers than one small farm can sustain, while expanding market opportunities for small farmers and ensuring they receive fair retail prices for their food.
The SHA produce box scheme has gone from strength to strength in the past twelve months; with growing numbers of subscribers all eager to be a part of a healthy and strong local food system and enjoy the delicious and varied, seasonal fruit and veggies.
We are excited by the partnership we have forged with Banjo’s Paddock and look forward to growing our regional food community!
