Provincial Pastures has the position of (live-in) Farm Manager available at our mixed use, 55 hectare polyculture farm situated 15 minutes north of Bega in southeast NSW.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right person to be involved in a diverse natural farm with a big dream! And to live a great lifestyle in a beautiful part of the world whilst working with other passionate people to make a difference.

We’re looking for a dynamic self starter who is passionate, ‘can do’, proactive and organised, has the ability and knowledge to identify problems before they arise and to formulate plans to coordinate the operations of our farm. We need an all rounder who is practical and happy to get their hands dirty and also undertake administration, planning and monitoring to make the farm, dairy and nursery business run smoothly.

An understanding of, experience with, or passion for some of the following an advantage:

Organics, biodynamics, carbon farming, rotational grazing, no-till cropping, permaculture, community supported agriculture, restorative agriculture, native plants, on farm tourism / events, slow food movement, polyculture farming and holistic management systems.

Skills and experience an advantage:

• Diploma in Organic or Sustainable Farming, or commensurate experience
• Animal husbandry (cows, pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, geese, alpaca’s, maremma’s)
• Tractor work
• Dairy operation
• Irrigation
• Pasture management
• Fencing skills
• Drivers licence
• Computer literacy

Desirable (but not required) experience:

• Safe food handling supervisor certificate
• First Aid Certificate
• Biodynamic farming
• Permaculture training or certificate
• Nursery experience

Salary package is negotiable based on experience and can include a farm house. Hours and days are negotiable. The position could ideally suit a couple with kids (Bega has a Steiner school – Mumbulla School) and the house is large enough to be a family home.
