There is something deeply special about sharing a meal made from food grown close to home. A meal becomes more than what is on the plate,  it becomes a story of people, place, season and community.

That spirit is at the heart of the new Southern Harvest Supper Club.

Launching this May at Scrumpers Kitchen in Bungendore, the Supper Club is a monthly dining experience that brings together local growers, producers, cooks and community around one shared table. Held on the third Friday of every month, each evening will feature a different local producer and celebrate the incredible seasonal food being grown throughout our region.

At its core, the Supper Club is about connection.

Connection to the people who grow our food.
Connection to seasonal eating.
Connection to community.
And connection to the stories behind every ingredient.

Hosted in the warm and welcoming atmosphere of Scrumpers Kitchen, guests can expect thoughtfully curated seasonal menus, relaxed conversation, beautiful local produce and the kind of slow evenings that remind us why gathering around food matters.

Every month, Ruth from Scrumpers Kitchen will create a special menu inspired by the featured grower and the best produce available at that moment in the season. Guests will have the opportunity not only to enjoy the meal, but also to meet the producers themselves and hear firsthand about their work, their philosophy and their connection to the land.

We are thrilled that the very first Southern Harvest Supper Club will proudly feature Home Soil, a passionate small-scale grower based in Bywong.

For Rachel and Damian from Home Soil, growing food began around 15 years ago with a simple but meaningful idea: to live more sustainably and grow their own produce. What started as an experiment quickly evolved into a genuine passion – one shaped by curiosity, hard work, learning and a deep appreciation for seasonal food.

Today, Home Soil produces an incredible variety of seasonal vegetables and herbs, with a strong focus on sustainability, biodiversity and growing food in rhythm with nature. Much of what they eat comes directly from their own garden, reflecting a lifestyle grounded in self-sufficiency, care and connection to the seasons.

For this inaugural evening, Ruth will transform Home Soil’s beautiful seasonal harvest into a thoughtfully curated two-course menu designed to showcase the flavours of autumn and the richness of locally grown produce.

The evening promises to be warm, welcoming and relaxed –  a chance to slow down, share a meal, meet new people and celebrate the incredible growers within our region.

Because local food tastes even better when shared.
