Description
Supper Club October edition with Falani & Olivier from Living Earth Farm from Young.
Long before they were farmers, Falani and Olivier were chefs. Years in busy kitchens taught them what true freshness, flavour and quality look like, along with the hard work and perseverance needed to create something memorable. Over time, the source of those ingredients began to call to them and they were slowly lured out of the kitchen and into the field.
Falani grew up in Toronto, Canada. Her love of food led her to study cooking and then to an apprenticeship with celebrated chef Michael Stadtlander at Eigensinn Farm in Ontario. Surrounded by the land that fed the kitchen, she discovered that it was farming that truly captured her heart. That passion has since grown into a deep interest in medicinal plants. Falani has studied Medicinal Herbalism and hopes to one day grow medicinal herbs on the farm.
Olivier was born in Melbourne to Italian migrant parents and grew up with food at the centre of family life. His grandfather was an orchardist and Olivier shares his love of fruit trees. He spent fifteen years as a chef, cooking at respected Australian restaurants PIER and ISIS and working in France and London for Alain Ducasse. During a sabbatical in Europe, he worked with the late biodynamic farmer Stefano Belotti in Italy and realised his future lay in the soil. He is also passionate about teaching and sharing his knowledge.
Together, Falani and Olivier spent several years working with organic farming pioneer Michael Ableman at Foxglove Farm in Canada. They then established the first Living Earth Farm in High Range, New South Wales. After significant challenges on that site, they spent two years back in Canada developing their skills before returning to begin again. Â In the winter of 2023, Living Earth Farm was reborn on Wiradjuri Country in Young, the cherry capital of Australia. The property was once a cherry and plum orchard and later a market garden. With rich granite soils, more land and reliable water, Falani and Olivier are bringing it back to life with cover crops, newly planted native and fruiting trees and fresh ground prepared for the seasons ahead.
As biological farmers, they see the farm as one connected system, from the soil and the plants to the birds and insects that share the fields. They grow from seed, trial new varieties and walk their rows every day, watching and listening, all in pursuit of beautiful, field-ripened produce with a story to tell. Their dedication has been widely recognised. After earlier success as a state winner, Living Earth Farm took out the national “From the Earth” category at the 2025 delicious. Harvey Norman Produce Awards.
We are delighted to welcome Falani and Olivier as our special guest for this Southern Harvest Supper Club, an evening to hear their story, taste their produce and sit down together around a shared table.
