I’m not sure how much introduction Sam needs around these parts, but if you haven’t met her yet, meet Sam our *new * market manager and community stall coordinator at SHA.

Sam’s not really new around here, in fact she was the very first market manager at SHA waaaaaay back when SHA first got going. Sam is a person with bucket loads of integrity and heart so you know you’re onto a good thing when Sam’s involved. In her little break away from SHA Sam has tackled many big and amazing things. With her partner Frank, and Franks parents Pip and Ted, Sam has been building a little permaculture paradise on 30 acres in Wamboin called AWOL or Another Way of Living. Starting with building a solar passive home for Pip and Ted out of mostly recycled materials Sam and Frank then moved on to renovate the old original weather board home on the property into a north facing, efficient space with catering kitchen, wood stove, composting toilets, cellar room and large open sharing space for hosting events for the community.

Sam and Frank have also been regenerating the bush around the homes at AWOL, using managed grazing of kangaroos and rotational grazing of turkeys. Amongst all of this, Sam has been an active board member of the Canberra food co-op, hosted seasonal gatherings for her community, helped out on many SHA farms and acquired more growing and making skills than you can poke a stick at. We’re thrilled to have Sam bringing this huge wealth of experience back into her role at SHA.
