Join us on the 29th of October (Rescheduled from 24/9) to visit two alpaca farms in the Michelago region.
PACAWOOLLY – is a small alpaca stud in Michelago. They breed high quality alpacas in a variety of colours and produce natural alpaca fleece and yarn. We use sustainable, natural and economically viable products and processes in the care of alpacas, the land and fleeces. Pacawoolly do not dye the yarns. Their yarn is soft to the touch, a joy to knit or crochet and comfortable to wear. They also sell alpacas as guard animals or pets and small groups of animals if you are interested in setting up a stud of your own.
The farm is situated on granite ridge country and you’ll get to tour the farm and see the adaptations needed to collect water, fence and manage livestock. You’ll also get to feed, pet talk to and walk with alpacas.
BOSTON FINE FIBRES – From fleece to yarn to garment – in zero kilometres.
This specialty fibre processing mill located in the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales, is one of only a very few alpaca exclusive mills in Australia. They process individual fleeces from their own and other farmers alpacas, generally labelling the yarn with the name of the alpaca whose fleece was used. This is an eco-friendly process with no harsh detergents, bleaches or dying agents being used. They use only rain water harvested from their rooftop and their own solar power to run the machines.
You’ll get to tour the farm, meet the animals and get hands on in the mill.
