HF2020 was supposed to be the year of adaption, however it ended up being the year of cancellation. The extreme conditions that the region had experienced had already taken an enormous toll on our farmers and producers when COVID came along and added insult to injury. We had planned on running a Fire and Drought Relief Fund-raiser instead of a festival with the Harvest (Against All the Odds) Long Lunch event, then all events were then cancelled.
However, the delightful upside of all the struggle of the past few years has been seeing this community pull together to adapt, rally and rebuild. The support for local food and farming businesses has been overwhelming and gratifying and we are certainly a stronger community that we were.
So….. for HF2021 we are treading softly. In addition to the promotion of local eating and accommodation venues over the entire weekend, we will be running a festival market day on the Saturday, we will again attempt the Harvest (Against All the Odds) Long Lunch event, and will be organising virtual as well as physical farm tours and workshops.
We will be CELEBRATING the bountiful harvest and the resilience of this amazing community. We have also started PLANNING for a huge return in 2022!!
