
Southern Harvest Cooperative is looking for a part-time Events Coordinator
Location: Online and in person at various locations in ACT and SE NSW
Employment Type: Casual, 2-24 hrs per week for 4 months of the year. Hours will fluctuate depending on the event schedule.
About Us:
Southern Harvest Cooperative is a farmer led, community-driven, local food and farming cooperative. Our events aim to bring together individuals, businesses, and local organizations to explore and celebrate the food and fibre farmed in this region.
The aims of the cooperative are to:
- support healthy relationships between growers, producers, consumers and community
- develop partnerships with like-minded organisations, local government and community groups to help facilitate the uptake of local produce
- facilitate access to education that supports the sustainable growth of local food and agricultural systems
- develop a strong regional identity around regenerative agriculture, which provides opportunities for enterprise diversity and adds value to regional produce
- advocate for equitable access to high-quality local produce for consumers, sales opportunities, and scale-appropriate regulation for producers
We are currently seeking a passionate, detail-oriented, and highly organized Events Coordinator to join our small team and help plan, coordinate, and execute a variety of events that engage our community and support our mission. This role offers a high level of flexibility to work from home during the hours that suit the employee.
Position Overview:
As the Events Coordinator, you will play a key role in organizing and executing community events, ranging from social gatherings, farm tours and workshops to large festivals (BUNGENDORE HARVEST FESTIVAL and WINTER/TRUFFLE FESTIVAL) and fundraisers. You will work closely with our team and local partners to ensure each event runs smoothly and creates a memorable experience for all attendees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and coordinate community events, including logistics, scheduling, budgeting, and vendor management.
- Collaborate with community members, stakeholders, and partners to design events that meet the needs of the community.
- Develop event timelines, checklists, and project plans to ensure timely execution.
- Collaborate with our communications manager to promote events through social media local advertising and community outreach.
- Oversee on-site event management, including set-up, tear-down, and managing volunteers and staff.
- Manage event budgets and ensure cost-effective solutions.
- Monitor and evaluate the success of each event and gather feedback for future improvements.
- Assist in the recruitment, training, and coordination of volunteers.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, permits, and insurance requirements.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in event planning or coordination, preferably in a community-focused or nonprofit setting.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Google Suite, and social media platforms.
- Passion for community building and cooperative values.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and during busy event seasons.
