Draft Primary Production and Rural Development State Environmental Planning Policy and planning reforms

The Department of Planning and Environment has undertaken a review of five existing State Environmental Planning Policies (SEPPs) that address primary production and rural development. This is part of the ongoing SEPP review Program, which aims to modernise and simplify the planning system.

A package of reforms, including a proposed new Primary Production and Rural Development SEPP, has been prepared. The Department is seeking community views on the proposed reforms, which are outlined in an Explanation of Intended Effect. Draft guidelines for intensive livestock development projects have also been prepared to support the proposed planning reforms.

We encourage you to make a submission on the proposals in the Explanation of Intended Effect and the supporting draft planning guidelines by 18 December 2017. Feedback received will be used to inform the preparation of the new SEPP, related amendments proposed to other planning instruments, and to finalise the planning guidelines.
