As part of our commitment to the Truffle Festival, there is a dedicated section on the Southern Harvest website that will tell visitors all about truffle activities in our region, as well as where to purchase truffles, how to cook with them, and how to pair them with local wines.

If you or your business is running a truffle event, please fill in this form and we will list it – free of charge – on our website and can promote it on social media. If you or your business is selling truffles and truffle products please fill in this form and we can list the details.

Truffles are a wonderful expression of winter, but they’re far from the only culinary joy to be found in winter! This is the season for stored crops like pumpkins and potatoes, as well as the release of new vintages from our local wineries. The frosts will sweeten many winter crops like brassicas and root vegetables, making them even more delicious – a benefit of the cold Canberra climate!

Southern Harvest is once again delighted to be auspicing the activities of The Truffle Festival – Capital Region! This is the 17th year that this region has celebrated the Truffle Festival, as the region’s smallholder truffle farmers band together to promote all things truffle and winter goodness.

The Truffle Festival encompasses the whole of truffle season, promoting the best of activities and events dedicated to this unique ‘black gold’. This includes truffle hunts at local farms, restaurants serving truffle on the menu, seasonal feasts, and – for the first time – a Winter Market run by Southern Harvest. We believe that truffles are a great way to introduce more people to the JOYS of seasonal eating, and to show that winter produce can and should be celebrated and enjoyed.

To celebrate the best of Winter, we are hosting our first everĀ Winter Market at Dairy Road, Fyshwick, on 28 July. This market will feature local produce stallholders, food trucks, wineries, truffieres, entertainment and more! Head to the Dairy Road website or the Facebook event for more information. We will be announcing the full list of stallholders shortly.

As part of this Winter Market, Chef Christophe Gregoire (formerly of Le Tres Bon restaurant in Bungendore) will be running two cooking demonstrations. These ticketed events are sure to be a hit as the renowned French Chef showcases a few ways to really get the best out of your truffles! Tickets coming soon – keep an eye on our social media to be the first to know!

How will you be celebrating truffle season in Canberra?
