Sunday 23rd of February 2020, 10am-330pm

Hosted by AWOL, Norton Rd. Wamboin NSW

Tickets $50-$75

Spend a Summer Sunday eating wholesome produce whilst discussing why food choices matter and how to develop the tools to navigate the complexity we often face when making decisions about food.

Join Ellyn Bicknell from Dirty Food Dietitian and Samantha Hawker from AWOL – Another Way of Living at the AWOL property in Wamboin, 20 minutes out of Canberra. We will take a glimpse at food from a variety of angles including the environmental effects, nutrition, culture, convenience of food options as well as the importance of soil and seeds and the debate of whether to eat or not to eat animals and animal products. All questions, opinions, personal experiences and lifestyles will be respected and we ask that as a participant you also come with respect for others in discussion.

Together we will creatively examine our personal food journeys – looking at what brought us to where we are, as individuals and as this society. We will discuss how this diversity is important to recognise and provide you tools to help navigate the food system based on your individual values and priorities.

Tickets are $50 per person or $75 for a sponsor ticket. Please book early to ensure the day happens and because places are limited. The cost includes a wholesome local lunch, morning tea and coffee, tea etc. If dollars are a barrier – PLEASE contact us as we can happily work out a different form of exchange.

In the interest of radical transparency we are sharing the budget for the course. Check out the google.doc below for specifics, but roughly the standard ticket price can be broken down to $10 (80% of surplus) for each facilitator (Ellyn and Sam), $25 (fixed) to AWOL for catering and hosting, and $5 (20% of surplus) to Southern Harvest for hosting ticketing etc.

Purchasing a “sponsor ticket” will help to cover costs for any non-monetary participants and will be supporting more of this work to continue to happen. Thank you!
