Earlier this month, RDA Southern Inland and Southern Harvest hosted the Australian Capital Region premiere of Fair Food, Australia’s first feature length documentary that tells the story of our farmers, social entrepreneurs and communities pioneering new approaches to food production, marketing and distribution. About 180 people attended the premiere. It was great to see such passion and support growing in our region for fair food.

Dr Nick Rose delivered his Churchill Fellowship presentation about alternative urban agriculture systems prior to the film screening. After the film, there was a robust discussion with local fair food champions David Pocock, Micheal Croft, Penny Kothe from Caroola Farm and Grazing restaurant’s Kurt Neumann. Discussion topics included access to abattoirs, the need for ongoing education, both in schools and within the general public and the need for a ‘fair food phone app’.
